A demo recently revealed at E3 2011 showed the massive scope and beauty of Far Cry 3. The jungle was misty and the trees and leaves blocked the sun only letting in small blotches that illuminated your surroundings. Branches and bushes pushed aside as you walk through them, and after reaching the edge of the jungle you stand a cliff over looking this massive island. Far Cry 3 is gorgeous, and everything from the lush mountains in the distance to the man-made huts below are captured with an amazing amount of detail. Looking over the cliff you see a militia killing and enslaving the inhabitants of the island. You stop to take a picture, and just as the last photo is taken there is a russel in the jungle. A soldier hits you with the butt of his gun. You, Jason Brody, are going to have to escape.
Jason Brody awakes to find himself tied to a chair, and a menacing figure appears before him. His name is Vaas, and from Jason's surroundings he can tell that he's in a lot of trouble. Vaas starts to speak asking Jason if he knows what the definition of insanity is, Vaas tells him that insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting something to change. He becomes angry and breaks a chair yelling, saying that he's already killed you once. He walks over to you and asks you, "Have I ever told you the definition of insanity?" Vaas walks over to a cinder block with a rope around it, it's tied to Jason's chair. He kicks it over a ledge and it sends Jason over the edge, and he plummets into a river as he gets dragged farther to the bottom he sees other people who have had the same treatment. People with a rope around their leg tied to a cinder block. Jason struggles to break free, pulling at the rope desperately trying to loosen the rope. His vision starts to fade the corners start to blacken, but he breaks free and lunges toward the surface. As he gets closer the black starts to enclose, and he can barely see, and just when he is about to use his last breath he breaks the surface.
Jason gasps for breath and looks around he sees an exit through a hole in the cliff side. He swims through and finds himself behind a waterfall. A guard is walking by the other side, Jason moves silently towards the guard using the waterfall as cover. The guard passes by and Jason moves in and incapacitates him. He takes his assault rifle and some other items, after he turns and hears more guards. Quickly Jason moves up to a cluster of trees and bushes and finds a machete sticking out of the ground and a pistol lying next to it. He picks up both and proceeds towards a trail, once at the top he overlooks an entire village. There are guards patrolling the perimeter, and the remaining force is dispatching of the inhabitants. A guard walks around the side of a building continuing his patrol. He continues to walk directly beneath Jason who takes out his machete and drops over the ledge.
He lands on top of the guard and thrusts the knife into his chest. Jason proceeds down the soldiers intended path keeping out of sight of other guards. He walks up a dirt trail and sees another solider on patrol. Moving silently towards him Jason spots another guard in a chair. He focuses on the guard walking ahead of him and pulls the knife from the guard's sheath. Jason stabs him in the side of the neck and then throws the knife at the other guard hitting him square in the temple, both guards are down. Jason takes out his assault rifle eyeing his surroundings trying to figure out his next move. He pulls up behind some cover, only a sheet of wood atop one of the many huts. Jason spots many militia disposing of bodies, but he notices a helicopter past a small river. He readies himself then opens fire on a soldier.
The soldiers hear the bursts of gun shots and frantically scan the area for the gunman. They spot Jason on top of one of the buildings and open fire. Jason peers around the corner, looking for something to distract the soliders. He is under heavy fire, but sees a flammable barrel and hits it with a few rounds of his rifle. It explodes sending debris and fire everywhere, Jason then leaps off the roof and runs behind another hut. He leaps into the river to loose the militia and swims onto the bank. The helicopter is just ahead and Jason moves up the bank. He stops and looks back to see some soldiers moving across the bridge towards his position. Jason spots several flammable barrels on the bridge and unloads a round of fire that ignites the barrels and demolishes the bridge. He continues to move up the bank the helicopter is just ahead. Soliders pour out of a house to the right of Jason unaware that he is next to them. He shoots down the soldiers and proceeds toward the helicopter. He puts the pistol on the pilots head and tells him to take off. Soldiers open fire as the helicopter lifts off the ground. Jason begins to shoot at the remaining soliders below, and as the helicopter moves farther into the sky an RPG connects with the side of the helicopter.
The helicopter spins wildly and looses altitude and then it collides with the ground. Jason awakes looking out of the helicopter door as smoke and fire weaken his sight. He notices a figure moving down a trail towards him. He can hardly make out who it is, but then he realizes it's Vaas. Jason sees his pistol just outside the helicopter he pulls himself towards it desperately trying to grab the gun. Vaas kicks it aside, bends down, and then looking at you asks, "Have I ever told you the definition of insanity?"
